This year we had  Thanksgiving dinner with Rekha aunty’s family and friends. The traditional Thanksgiving menu is non-vegetarian (stuffed turkey with mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce with pumpkin pie). But being Gujrati Jain,we had a traditional Gujrati dinner – Puri, moongdal, undhiyu, patra, orange basundi and finished up the dinner with Marie Callender’s Pumpkin Pie which was super delicious! Just a couple pics from the dinner…

Rekha aunty’s place is about 42 miles drive from our place, so me and my husband were just having  a conversation about how life has offered us all that we wanted and more over the past 6 years of knowing each other. I am so thankful and grateful for all the following things that happened to me over the past years (in no particular order)

1. Meeting Sagar on facebook at the time we were in different parts of the world ( Sagar- US and Me- India). I will always be indebted to the Almighty for he made us meet, fall in love and the rest is history 🙂

2. Getting the opportunity to study in the US (this was my secret desire). I did feel overwhelmed at times about studying again but looking back I can say everything was so worthwhile and worth the experience. I am glad I had this opportunity

3. This year, I finally became a Registered Dietitian ( 4 years of hardwork and pateince)

4. Sagar and his never ending support for things I like doing. To be very honest, I hate it when Sagar goes crazy about cricket and spends every weekend playing his favorite sport. But as much as I want to develop a liking for his passion I cannot. On the contrary, he takes immense interest in things I like to do such as painting, blogging etc

5. Thankful for opportunity to travel to Florida, Japan and Hawaii with Sagar. Not to forget the local trips we took together in and around California

6. My dream of owning a single-family home came true. Not only that every single detail of the house is as I had wished for. The kitchen, frontyard, backyard, the trees in the yard that change color in fall making the whole experience so heavenly. The mountains and the clouds that sweep along the edges- everything seems so perfect! How can I forget the parks and beautiful walkways and a grocery store at walking distance.

7. So glad, my parents visited me in the US this year. What a wonderful time we spent! Mom tended the garden, took care of the kitchen and dad made some contemporary pieces of furniture which we continue to receive compliments on, and oh how much I love the closet!

8. Thankful for my hobbies that keep me busy and help me stay away from all negativity of life. when I am painting or doing embroidery or writing a blog post – I get so involved with that , that I forget all of my worries- that of getting a job and my future. Those are the times, I experience what it is to live in the present moment and enjoy it to the fullest.

10. So excited and glad to have had an opportunity to display my artwork at an art gallery ( again, this has always been my secret desire). I love it when the gallery owner says that people appreciate my work. Thankful, I found art lessons at the same gallery so I can learn to do  landscape painting and improve some techniques

11. Thankful for the fresh water, hot shower, beautiful days, chai tea, free time so I can pursue my hobbies – they make my day so worthwhile

12.I can keep adding to this list , but I just want to say that at the moment my life is perfect – everything I wanted it to be 🙂

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
