It’s been long since I‘ve written a post…Forgive me if my posts are irregular as I have begun with my school. I will try my best to write weekly posts though.
Just before I began my school, we went camping! I was super excited as it was my first ever experience, with wonderful group of friends. We were going to stay in the woods, without phones, internet or cable, disconnecting ourselves with the world and just enjoy being in the wilderness.
We got to our camping site late Friday evening with our ice-boxes, soft drinks, two-burner propane gas stove, tent, air-beds etc. The camp site was very dark with no light whatsoever. We somehow managed to set up 3 tents with one electric lantern and only one friend who had been camping before. After one hour of tent setup adventure we made dinner reheated the Pavbhaji we carried from home on our propane gas stove and relished every single bite of it. As it was midnight we sneaked into our tents to get a goodnight’s sleep. Next day after a heavy brunch of assorted parathas and masala chai we headed for Yosemite. The drive was wonderful with deep valleys, grand meadows & ancient giant sequoias. We decided to spend some time at the Yosemite waterfall. It was very scenic. I was enjoying the sounds of rushing water and the sunshine in my eyes as I tried to gaze at the mountains. While I stood there wondering at the bounties of nature and looking at the magnificent piece of art created by the Almighty, I felt the mist as the water came gushing down, bouncing off the rocks and exploding into a million particles. What a heavenly experience it was! One actually needs to spend a lot of time in Yosemite to appreciate the beauty of this place.
On the way back from Yosemite to our camping site, we had an extempore halt alongside a river. We enjoyed playing in the chilled water coming from the mountains which revived my childhood memories. We were back to our campsite by evening as we planned a barbeque night-Grilled veggie burger with paneer tikka. After the yummilicious dinner we spent the rest of the night playing cards and chatting.
So if you love outdoors, adventure, no modern distractions and wish to spend quality time with friends and family this is definitely a must do thing in life!
