Last weekend I was at the Jain Temple in Milpitas celebrating its 12th anniversary. I got an opportunity to volunteer for ‘aangi’ ceremony which means decorating the marble idol of God. I instantly agreed as it was something do with art and I was excited to learn something new. Normally the idols are worshipped as they are,but on special occasions they are adorned with sandalwood, flowers, ‘resham’ (high quaIity silk) saffron, glitter etc. I wasn’t carrying my camera that day but managed to click  a picture, thanks to my mobile phone!

Using sandalwood and resham to begin the decoration, felt totally at peace while at work.It took me 5 hours to finish…

And the final look, couldn’t take my eyes off as they looked mesmerizing with the dhoti and safa!
