This topic is straight forward. As I never thought I would actually enjoy writing, but I as did, and went on to write so many posts on this blog platform. I consider all my posts to be my favorites!
If I may change this topic to ” Who motivated you to start writing a blog”?
I would say my Dad. My papa somehow always had faith in me and everything I chose to do. So, when it came to writing he had no doubts I could write. He had been telling me to write eversince my hostel days which date back to the year 2003. I would write dairy at times, which my mama who was then living in Dubai, had gifted me. Mostly, my dairy was filled with good quotes, thoughts, poems I read in books, magazines, papers. The first ever written piece of mine that was ever published was my essay on ” Saving our mother- the earth” in school newspaper. My mom has still kept that paper. My papa also wanted me to write about my hostel life, my experiences -all good and bad, but I never took it seriously. I wish I had. It would be so good to read those posts now :). During, my hostel days, I was stuck in the famous 26/7 floods and 26/11 terror attacks and hence my dad always thoguht I should have written about those incidents, for memory if nothing else.Later, after I finished college and got my first job ever, I wrote several nutrition and health related articles in leading newspapers of Mumbai, such as Mid-day, Mumbai Mirror and Times of India. Then, as I got married and moved to the US things changed. I almost forgot about writing anything ever. But then, when my husband and I both travelled to Japan, for his project, I found myself having abundant of time. I was unsure of what to do with time. So, I set up a blog. Honestly, it was my dad who suggested the name for this blog ‘snehspeaks’ may be because I talk a lot 😛 I then began by writing about my experiences in Japan related to food, culture, technology and more. I am so glad I finally listened to my dad and have begun writing whatever little I can. It will be amazing to read how my life was in 20s when I grow old 🙂
Thanks papa for motivating me to take up writing!
P.S: My dad is a great writer too 🙂 He had written a lot of articles on cricket during the 2003 world cup. He lost touch after that. But, when comes ot visit me in the US, it will be my turn to motivate him to write 🙂
