Ganesh Utsav is big in Maharashtra, more so in Konkan, Mumbai & Pune. I’d be wrong if I said that Ganesh Utsav is celebrated only in Maharashtra. It is celebrated worldwide. This evening I had been to a friends place for Ganesh utsav. I was happy to see Ganesh chaturthi being celebrated with traditional rituals and chanting of “Ganpati Bappa morya ….” here California. The pandal was beautifully decorated with flowers, colorful lights and incense sticks. The brightly-lit idol of Lord Ganesha was placed inside this beautifully decorated pandal. We performed aarti, chanting prayers and devotional songs after the offerings. Offerings to the Lord consist of various types of sweets like modaks, ladoos, coconut, fruits, vermillion, turmeric powder and rice.The physical attributes of Ganesha are rich in symbolism. Hi u have written that festival is celebrated mostly in mumbai&poona but i must say it is celebrated largely in konkan(specialy sindhudurga/Ratnagiri). But over all nice article
