Last weekend we got an opportunity to visit a local Japanese festival in Oiso. This particular festival is not as common among the foreigners as it is celebrated only in Oiso. I guess we were lucky enough to get a glimpse of this festival as we were invited by Sagar’s friend Itagakisan that day. This festival is mainly celebrated by fishermen’s in Oiso. They worship the God of Ocean by dancing and carrying ‘mikoshi’. A mikoshi is a portable Shinto shrine. It resembles a miniature building, with walls, a roof, a veranda and a railing. Here are some photos I took at the festival that day. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I did!
