I am in Yokohama, Japan at present with my husband who is on a business trip. It’s just been five days since I am here and I am totally enjoying the experience. Great place, great people and good food. Today, I went out for lunch with my Japanese girlfriends Keiko and Yao. We went to a Japanese restaurant next to Yokohama station named ‘Harvest’. Keiko and Yao chose this place since I am a vegetarian and this place has a lot of vegetarian Japanese food. The entrance of the restaurant had a display of different Japanese dishes. What was interesting about this place was they used seasonal organic vegetables and traditional Japanese herbs without any synthetic flavorings or additives. The theme revolved around appreciating food in its natural form in order to get maximum nutritional benefits for a beautiful and healthy body! No wonder Japanese people are so petite! The traditional Japanese noodles (Udon) are white and thick about 4-8mm thick served with hot soup, grated ginger and fresh green onion. I also loved the caramelized onions, grated carrots with black sesame paste, soba noodles with alfalfa sprouts (rich in vitamins, minerals& phytochemicals) and thread noodles made with beans. After a good nutritious lunch we then headed to have authentic green tea at Nana’s cafe. With every sip of fresh green tea I thought to myself what a healthful day it has been!
