Last Sunday, we were invited by Sagar’s friend for dinner. I was excited as it was going to be a Japanese style dinner. After a long day of sightseeing, we reached Itagaki-san’s (Mr.Itagaki) place in the evening. We were offered a welcome drink made from radish and lime; it was quite tasty and healthy. I still cherish every sip of it! I was trying to speak to Shiho-chan in my broken Japanese as they took us around their house. While we were busy touring our first traditional Japanese house, I spotted some beautiful paintings. Itagaki-san told us they were done by Shihochan and this made me instantaneously bond with her. The house was very modern yet traditional. We were in awe of the beautiful view of the garden through the transparent glass in the living room. We then headed to the beach (it was a beach house!) with big umbrella and chairs. It was so peaceful and relaxing! I had always dreamt of a beach house, spending the evening with my husband enjoying the waves splashing the shore and today it was actually happening! As soon as we returned back from the beach we were served Japanese green tea and rice crackers. Japanese food is non-vegetarian but they knew we were pure vegetarians and hence went out of their way to make vegetarian food for us which was delicious! I was so moved with their gesture! My mom always says there are no strangers; they are friends you haven’t met yet!
