Yesterday I did my first painting after our marriage. I got too busy as soon I moved to the US because of my school and household chores. I was wrong when I thought being a housewife was easy, it is the most difficult job! This painting is a reproduction of Jamini Roy’s paintings (famous artist of Calcutta). I enjoyed every bit of it, the texture of the colors the smell, different brushes and different techniques. I was so much into it that I passed my chai time without realizing it. I felt so calm and peaceful while painting. Having a calm mind is necessary to be in the present and feel at peace. A mind filled with worry is often leads to stress, unhappiness and lower productivity. I truly believe that your hobby, it can be anything music, painting, gardening or dancing can help you slow down the pace of busy life and connect with your inner strength, like meditation does. You don’t need to do asanas (yoga) or light a incense stick to create the atmosphere or chant mantras in order to be able to meditate, just pursue your hobby – the best form of meditation!
